Wish I was in NYC but my armchair works

Okay, I wish I was in New York this week for BEA11. I've never gone - well I didn't even know about it last year. I only started this blog in January. Last summer I was reading like crazy but hadn't learned about the blogging craz.

I will probably never get to go to BEA because I teach middle school and it falls in the last two weeks of school. That's not a great time to be gone for a whole week. And while we are on the subject of my job - I teach 8th grade math. I know you are groaning but I love math. I have a reading group at lunch and I share my love of reading every day. My students know about my book obsession. I have a mini library in my classroom that I share with them. They share with me. I am always picking up their books and asking questions.

Which brings me to what kind of books I read and review for this blog. I pretty much only read YA. I hang out with fourteen year olds on a daily basis. That's just how I roll. I prefer the paranormal YA books but I venture out to contemporary. Once in a long while I may read an adult book, but don't count on it.

Anyway, if you are still reading this, I will show you the actual armchair - mini couch where I read. It's actually a snuggle chair meant for two. I bought it because I have three dachshunds and they think they need to help me when I read. So we have room in my snuggle chair.

Looking forward to a fun week of BEA from my chair. Enjoy the read.

  1. I may never get there either. It's interesting to see your point of view-- since I deal with grades 6-8, it's mainly the 6th graders who want to hang out and get book recommendations, so I don't read as much YA. I'll be reading with my Yorkie Poo this week. Are you doing the reading challenge over at Mother Reader?

  3. Your chair looks so comfy! I know how you feel because I probably won't ever get to BEA either given that I live in the UK. Oh well, we have the next best thing I guess!

  5. I love your chair! It looks so comfortable and perfect for reading.

Do not be ashamed of your love of math!! I use math 99.9 percent of the time in my job, and I love every minute of it. I think that makes us extremely well-rounded!

Welcome to Armchair BEA! On behalf of the organizers, we hope you have a blast this week!

  7. I LOVE your chair! I'm getting ready to get a new chair and that's just what I'm looking for only I want an ottoman, too. I keep telling my husband they're a 'chair and a half' (I've been quite ill and still can't shop).
He just checked out your chair and did the "Ooohh" thing. He get's it now, LOL! I've showed him other pictures but the pillows and other surroundings gave him a more realistic view!
Thanks so much for posting that!

I hope to get to BEA next year, this year my body wasn't able to handle it but maybe next year :o]
