Out of the Blue by Carina Adams ~ Release Day

*This book is #2 in the 'Bama Boys series. While it can be read as a standalone, it is a continuation of book #1 and is meant to be read after Forever Red.*

Putting others needs before his own was all Mike Carson had ever done.

First, it was the friends he loved more than family. Then it was his country. By nineteen, he was a father, a husband and fighting in a war not many people believed in. After an accident ended his career and his life fell apart, he filled his days keeping screaming fans from reaching the most famous country rock star in the world. And, pining after a woman who would never love him.
Then, everything changed.

He thought he could handle anything that was thrown his way. He thought running my security detail would be the easiest job he’d ever had. He thought he’d be able to keep me safe without getting attached.

He was wrong.

They call me reckless, selfish, and slutty. In reality, I’ve just stopped caring what everyone else thinks. I’m determined to have some fun, to live life my way, and to make Mike realize that being a little selfish isn't the worst thing in the world.

I think we both have our work cut out for us.

**Book contains graphic language and adult content.**

Forever Red

Please note that Forever Red is only 99c right now!!!!!

The knock on the door drifted through my dreams, but I wasn’t ready to greet the day. An arm tightened around me, bringing my back closer to a toned chest, and I smiled. Last night had been amazing. So had this morning when Mike had woken me up with his tongue.

There were many things I’d seen while on tour with Nate—national monuments, wonders of the world, Mother Nature’s miracles. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was better than waking up to the view of Mike’s face between my thighs. The thought alone had me squeezing my legs together and pushing back into his warmth.

I had just started to drift back into unconsciousness when a door shut somewhere in the distance.

“Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey!” Lia’s voice, way too perky that early in the morning, called out from the porch.

Mike growled out an inaudible response in his sleep, and I smiled, in complete agreement. When she called again, though, my subconscious wouldn’t let me ignore it and I was suddenly very awake. And very naked. Next to an equally bare Mike. I sat up in a panic.

Lia was leaning against the open French doors, laughing silently. “Morning, sunshine.”

Not only was she too energetic after drinking as much as she had the night before, she was too fucking happy about walking in on us. “This isn’t what it looks like.”

Her laughter bubbled out. “No?”

Before I could answer, a thick arm wrapped itself around my waist, making me jump in surprise, and pulled me back to the bed. Rolling over me, so his back was to the door, sheltering me, he kissed the tip of my nose. “Hello, beautiful.” He didn’t let me respond before he lifted his middle finger toward our friend. “It’s exactly what it looks like. Now fuck off.”

“I really wish I could.” The joy in her voice was clear, making me roll my eyes. “But we have to be on the road in fifteen minutes.”

“Ever hear of a fucking phone?” Mike asked, irritation clear.

Lia actually tsked at him, the way a mother or sister would. “Somebody didn’t get enough sleep last night.”

“I swear to fucking Christ, Lee…” Mike growled back.

Lia either didn’t take the threat seriously, or she didn’t care, laughing again. “Both of your phones went straight to voice mail, so I volunteered to come down and get you.” Clapping her hands, she continued. “Up, up. We’ve gotta get moving.”

Mike rolled his eyes. “Do not move.” Looking over his shoulder, he spoke to her. “I’m not getting out of this bed until you leave.”

“Please. It isn’t like I haven’t seen it before.”

Mike’s head jerked back to me when my body stiffened as the shock of that statement rocked me to my core.

“No.” He shook his head, reading my thoughts. “No.” I felt the blood drain from my face as a million different thoughts flooded my mind. A giant palm cupped my cheek and he leaned in to kiss me, as if trying to force my panic away. His thumb slid over my cheek as he spoke, “Clarify that, Lee.”

Swoon Thursday ~ 10/29/15

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.  Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! I want to know & so do the chicks at YABound!

From the author of the New York Times bestselling Bad Boys novels comes the second book in a dark, sexy contemporary trilogy.

He’s a fighter who never loses, but is he tough enough to win her heart?

There was a time when I had everything–a wonderful family, a bright future. Love. But all that was taken away in a single night, torn from me like flesh from bone. Since then, I’ve hidden away in my second-choice job as a makeup artist. But I prefer it that way, actually. I’m comfortable in the shadows, where no one can see my scars.

Kiefer Rogan literally took my breath away the moment I met him. MMA champion-turned-actor, notorious playboy, charming to a fault—he’s everything I vowed to avoid.

But he just wouldn’t stop until I opened up and let him in. Maybe I should’ve tried harder to resist him. Maybe I shouldn’t have fallen in love with him. Because I, of all people, know that everyone has secrets. Scars. And that they’re usually ugly and painful and destructive to the people we love most.

I just never guessed that they could be deadly, too.

Swoon...

When she doesn't move away, doesn't push me away, I sink into her lips like I might sink into a bed made of marshmallows.  Sweet, plump, light-as-air marshmallows.  And, God help me, Katie sinks right back.
Maybe she's been wondering about me, too.  Maybe she's as curious about me as I am about her.  Maybe, just maybe, she wants me as much as I want her.  Whatever the reason, I'm delighted when she parts her lips and tilts her head, a silent plea for me to deepen the kiss.
And deepen it I do. (Kindle location 865)

This book grabs you and doesn't let you go.  I'm not a bit surprised considering M. Leighton wrote it!

Sharing You (Sharing You, #1)Twenty-three year old, Kamryn Cunningham has left all she’s ever known and moved to a small town where no one knows her name, who her parents are, or her social status in the horseracing world. Months after opening her own bakery and evading attempts of being set up by her new best friend, she meets Brody. Kamryn fights the instant pull between them because there’s a detail she can’t dismiss. Brody’s married.

To say that twenty-six year old, Brody Saco has had a rough marriage would be an understatement. After marrying his pregnant girlfriend, he spends the next six years in a relationship filled with hatred, manipulation and guilt involving a tragedy that happened five years earlier. When he keeps running into his sister-in-law’s best friend, Kamryn, he can’t ignore that she makes him feel more with just one look than his wife ever has; and soon he can’t continue fight his feelings for her.

When staying apart proves to be too difficult, Brody and Kamryn enter a relationship full of stolen moments and nights that end too soon while they wait for Brody to file for divorce. But the guilt that comes with their relationship may prove to be too much for Kamryn, and Brody might not be strong enough to face the tragedy from his past in order to leave his conniving wife.

Swoon...

His breath washed over my mouth, and my lips parted in anticipation. I watched his eyes darken as the movement caught his eye. His chest rose and fell heavily as the air thickened around us, and I was close to begging him to kiss me. The hand at the small of my back pushed me closer to his body and the thumb at my jaw stopped moving--and I swear I stopped breathing until his eyes snapped back up to mine and realization hit them.
"Sweet dreams, Kamryn."

Oh, how I enjoyed this book. It's passionate and addicting and I LOVED IT. My review went up over on Bookish Lifestyle earlier this week, so you can go check that out by clicking HERE if you want to see more of my thoughts!

Those are our swoons for this week! What do you think? Do you have a swoon to share? Leave us a comment and link us up!

Review...

I am seven books in and still obsessed with this series.  When I read the description for this one, I was nervous I wouldn't enjoy it as much because there wasn't a shifter as a central character.  Shouldn't have worried.

Dev Santos isn't a shifter but he has their alpha male tendencies.  As one of the forgotten, he has gifts that most Psy don't.  His affinity for metal has him able to control his emotions like the silenced but his emotions are very much alive.  And the only thing...no the only person that can melt him is Katya Haas.

Both characters are strong and compelling.  I was very attached to both of them.  In an impossible situation, these two fight their attraction only to have it consume them both.  With the uncertainty that is Katya and the danger she represents, they are both trying to protect those they care about and fight the circumstances they were thrown into.  It was a great situation to put them in and it let them find their feelings for each other.

Of course, there is lots of heat in the book.  These two are drawn to each other as if they were mates. Besides the pantie melting heat, there are cuddles, touches and sweetness that had me very happy.

And pain.  So much pain.  I think this book truly taught me just how far this author will go with her characters when it comes to pain.  I cried.  So sad.  No more about this.  It was necessary.  It was important.  It taught us so much.  And I was happy at the end with that knowledge.

Some interesting additions to the world building in this book.  We learn more about those who rebelled against silence at it's inception.  We learned more about the evil of the Psy counsel and just how far they will go in their quest for power and control.  And we learned more about the rebellion inside the net.  Suspicions confirmed and reasons given for why some Psy are working the system.  It's incredible how each book completes a story while adding to the overarching series story.  I'm really enjoying that.

There are seven books left in the series and many little novellas.  I'm excited to read more.  I can't seem to stop.  It's all I want to read.

She gets all fidgety and nervous and adorable under my scrutiny, so I release her. Albeit reluctantly.
“So, a minivan,” she says, dropping her eyes and clearing her throat. I love that I put her off balance. I doubt much gets under this girl’s skin and I’m happy as hell that I appear to be making my way in, slowly but surely.
“A minivan,” I confirm, raising the wine bottle and glass questioningly.
“Oh, sorry. Kitchen’s through there.” Katie points to the most obvious doorway and I head in that direction. She follows after a few seconds. When I stop at the small island, she breezes past me, setting down the glass that I brought her and keeping her face averted. Makes me think she might be blushing again. After she rummages through a drawer for another minute, she turns her composed self back to me, a corkscrew in one hand. “There has to be a story behind it.”
“Behind what?” I ask, content to just watch her rather than talk. Or think.
Her grin is more pronounced this time. “Behind the minivan.”
“Oh, right. The minivan. I have a brother who came with me. He’s handicapped. I dropped him off at the gym on the way to the park.”
Her expression softens. Visibly. “Y-you have a handicapped brother?”
“I do.”
“And you . . . you take him places with you? You take care of him?”
I shrug. “Well, I don’t know about that. I mean, he’s grown, so . . .”
“Does he live with you?”
“For the most part.”
“That’s . . . that’s . . .” Katie is looking at me like she’s just now seeing me. Really seeing me. After several seconds, she glances down at the counter, at the glasses she’s arranging in a straight line with the bottle of red. “That’s very kind of you. I’m sure he appreciates it.”
“I’m sure he does, but like most guys, he’s got a piss-poor way of showing it.”
“Just like a damn man,” she says softly, glancing up at me from beneath her lashes, the hint of a playful smile still curving her lips.
“Bastards,” I reply.
Her eyes sparkle up at me and it takes every ounce of willpower I have not to haul her into my arms and kiss her senseless. Which might take a while. She’s got plenty of sense about her. Too much, maybe.
After a minute, when the temperature in the little kitchen is rising noticeably, Katie clears her throat again, pulling that swath of rich auburn hair over her shoulder like I’ve seen her do before. “So what is it that you drive when you’re not carting your brother around?”
“Maybe if you’re nice to me I’ll show you one day.”
She grunts indignantly, her lips parting yet still curved. “I’m always nice to you.”
“But you could be nicer,” I tell her with a half-grin.
She raises one dark brow, the sexiest damn thing I think I’ve ever seen on a woman. Besides her licking the corner of her mouth when she’s concentrating or nervous, that is. “And just how . . . nice are you expecting me to be?”
“Not that nice,” I answer. “Unless you just want to be that nice. I would never argue if you wanted to be extra, extra, extra nice to me.”
I give her my widest, most innocent smile. She laughs outright, an action that fills the kitchen with a delicate tinkle and turns her face from beautiful to breathtaking. A display like this from her is pretty rare, so pulling it out of her makes me feel like I’ve won the lottery.
“Do that again,” I request quietly, so drawn to her that I can’t stop myself from moving closer, from reaching out, from touching.
“Do what again?” she asks. When I cup her silky cheek in my palm, she straightens, but she doesn’t back away. A good sign.
“Laugh.”
“I can’t laugh on command,” she explains, her eyes flickering up to mine and away, up to mine and away.
“I swear to God, I think I’d do just about anything to hear that again, to see your face light up like that.”
My thumb blindly stroking the crest of her high cheekbone, I catch and hold her eyes this time. They’re like melted sapphires, a fathomless liquid that I could easily let myself drown in.
Katie’s lips open and close a couple of times, like she’s trying to find words where there are none. But the time for talk is over. I feel like I’ve waited patiently for an eternity to taste, and now it’s time for my reward.
Slowly, I bend my face toward hers, hoping she won’t move away, praying that she won’t stop me. “You’ve been on my mind since the first day I saw you, Beautiful Katie. It’s time you give me the answer to a question that’s been haunting me for weeks.”
I can feel the sweet, shallow puffs of her breath fanning my lips as I get closer. “W-what’s that?”
“Do your lips taste like cotton candy?”
“How would I know?” she asks a bit dazedly.
“Give me five minutes and I’ll tell you.”

I bring my other hand up to hold her face still as I brush my mouth over hers. When she doesn’t move away, doesn’t push me away, I sink into her lips like I might sink into a bed made of marshmallows. Sweet, plump, light-as-air marshmallows. And, God help me, Katie sinks right back.
