Introductions (The Ghost Bird #1) by C.L. Stone

With an agoraphobic mother and a barely-there father, Sang abhors the isolation keeping her in the shadows. The only thing Sang craves is a fresh start and to be accepted as ordinary by her peers, because for her being different meant being cast out alone.

When her family moves to a new school district, Sang infiltrates a group of boys nearly perfect in every way. Grateful for an influence outside of her parents’ negativity, she quickly bonds with the boys, hoping to blend in and learn from them what it means to have a natural relationship with friends.

Only the boys have secrets of their own and they’ll do anything to keep her safe from the knowledge of the mysterious Academy that they've sworn allegiance to. Bit by bit, Sang discovers that her friends are far from the normalcy she expected. Will her loyalty change when she's forced to remain in the dark, or will she accept that she's traded one house of secrets for another?

Meet Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North in a story about differences and loyalty, truth and mystery, friendships and heart-throbbing intimacy.

The Academy, ever vigilant.

Review...

According to Amazon, I've had this book for a WHILE. Like, since 2013. October 7, 2013, to be exact. So it's been on my Kindle for almost two years, and I'm just now getting to it. Whoa. I don't remember why I bought (or "grabbed" since it was most likely free then, too, like it is now) this first book in the Ghost Bird series, but I know I picked it up NOW because it was on a list of reverse harem books on Goodreads, so I checked it out on Amazon, saw I owned it, opened up the book to see how it looked, and then read the entire thing in about a day.

Personally, I LOVED IT. I am seriously so obsessed with this series now. I love the characters, and the general premise just makes my heart flip.

However, this is the kind of book--and SERIES--that is complete brain candy. It's more of a thing you read for enjoyment than to get caught up in all kinds of deep things. Don't get me wrong, there is so very much that is interesting in here. But it's more pure, amazing entertainment than anything else. I am okay with that. Heck, I'm MORE than okay with that. I adore it.

Introductions is exactly what the title implies--a book of introductions. There are a lot of characters in this series. Nine guys and the MC, Sang. So to kick it all off, this book is for introducing us to the characters, their dynamics, and Sang's situation. It's a great start to the series, and does exactly what it's meant to. After reading this first book, I loved what I'd seen from the characters already, and seriously looked forward to seeing where they would all go next.

And yeah, I totally jumped right into book two, First Days, without an ounce of hesitation.

One thing I enjoyed about Introductions was the way it made my heart feel happy. These guys are fantastic. They're a close group who don't really let people in, like, ever, but Sang seems to be the exception. I liked that a lot. I was also a huge fan of this big group of friends. It's a nice, fun, close-knit group that I have no doubt I'll continue to enjoy reading about as the series continues.

And I am so excited to see all these relationships develop. I love the reverse harem dynamic, so I'm especially excited about this. I have a feeling this whole series is just going to be so fun, and I can't wait to read more.

Overall, Introductions is a compelling beginning to the series that is my new addiction. Entertaining, fun, and absolutely self-indulgent, The Ghost Bird series is already on my list of favorites. I loved this book!
