ABOUT THE SERIES

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse--Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends--one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena--Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

  4. Yes, I've read a couple - loved them. I love the movies too. I have a nephew who is becoming a huge reader. He is 8 and just finished books 1 & 2 of Harry Potter. He is so advanced and I love it because I get to talk to him about books now. He loves the Minecraft series too. I would love to win this to share with him and do a read-along.

  7. Yes! I absolutely LOVED this series! I didn't expect to love it, as I was just reading it so I was reading what kids at school were reading at the time. LOVE! Loved Rick's other series as well and look forward to Magnus Chase's adventures!

  8. I don't know why my comment ended up deleted. Must have been a glitch. These books are so good! Love them!

  9. Yes, it's one of my favorites! I absolutely loved Percy's sense of humor and they kept me enthralled at a time when I was in high school and reading books from the older YA side of literature. It's a sign of great literature when a book can transcend age brackets and this series does just that. I still love them! Camp Half-Blood will always hold a special place in my heart.

  17. I have! I like the Heroes of Olympus series more, but that's just because the characters are older. I really enjoy Percy and Annabeth and they have such great adventures! Also, I was convinced I really KNEW mythology, but I learned so much about different creatures and myths in each book.
