A Perfect Ten (Forbidden Men, #5) by Linda Kage ~ Review

Source: Received an eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way over the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up altogether. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye.

Review...

From the moment I read the summary for this book, I knew I needed to read it.  As soon as it was on my Kindle, I had to open it.  Once it was open, I had to read it.  I loved it so much.  And when I was done?  I just couldn't read another book.  I wanted to keep thinking about Ten and Caroline.  So hung over with them.  It took two days of reading nothing before I finally decided I could let them go and read about other characters.

Characters are always the big draw for me and this series has some strong characters.  Not only do they feel real to me but they have interesting with  intense personalities.

Oren Tennings or Ten to his friends is carrying around some major guilt.  If he'd have had his way when he came to college, he would haven't have had any friends.  BUT Noel, his roommate and Caroline brother, refused to allow that.  So the next option for dealing with his memories was the party boy, no relationship guy.  He uses this party boy behavior to avoid thinking or dealing with it.  And he really does party boy well.  He rarely hooks up with the same girl twice.  He’s a bit mysterious with his hook-up practices and that just has the girls impatient to get in line.  Not getting close to any of them though.

The problem is that Caroline is his best friends sister and so he’s gotten to know her as a friend.  Really, she’s owned him since he met her but there’s no way he can be more than a friend.  Yeah, he’s promised her brother to stay away but there more to it than that and that’s all wrapped up in that guilt thing he’s got going on.  But Caroline finds a way to wiggle into his life and his bed.

Caroline hasn’t forgiven herself for a choice that was pretty much forced on her.  The only person that helps her face each day has straight out turned her down twice.  Time to take matters into her own hands.

Add some very interesting and unique developments that were surprising and fun and this book just flew by.

Combined with these two there are lots of secondary characters that I know from the previous books.  The book stands alone but it was fun to see how things have developed for them.

I loved that there was so much couple time.  These two are together and have lots of things to deal with before the big thing.  I love lots of couple time.

This book took me out of a funk.  I'd had a bad week at work and was thinking too much.  I sat down and read this...stayed up late and enjoyed falling in love with Ten and my funk was gone.  I love it when a book can become a friend that helps you deal with the real world.

I have read the first two books in this series and LOVED them.  You can check out my review of Price of a Kiss and To Professor With Love.  Somehow, I missed book three and four but I have them now and they will be read.  Soon.

I am obsessed with these books.  I turned Jess on to them and she feels the same way.  When you want the good stuff, the good New Adult with great characters, lots of couple time and a great story, then this book, this series is the one you should reach for.

The series...

  2. I have been dying to read this. I do have to say though, I like all of the covers individually but they don't really go together as a series.

    Great Review!

It's great to forget about all of life's stresses, and escape for a while. I'm all about the characters in a story too, and Ten and Caroline sound like amazing characters! I love this review :)
