So our book boyfriend for the week is...

Jagger!

Grey and Ben fell in love at thirteen and believed they’d be together forever. But three days before their wedding, the twenty-year-old groom-to-be suddenly died from an unknown heart condition, destroying his would-be-bride’s world. If it hadn’t been for their best friend, Jagger, Grey never would have made it through those last two years to graduation. He’s the only one who understands her pain, the only one who knows what it’s like to force yourself to keep moving when your dreams are shattered. Jagger swears he’ll always be there for her, but no one has ever been able to hold on to him. He’s not the kind of guy to settle down.

It’s true that no one has ever been able to keep Jagger—because he’s only ever belonged to Grey. While everyone else worries over Grey’s fragility, he’s the only one who sees her strength. Yet as much as he wants Grey, he knows her heart will always be with Ben. Still they can’t deny the heat that is growing between them—a passion that soon becomes too hot to handle. But admitting their feelings for each other means they’ve got to face the past. Is being together what Ben would have wanted . . . or a betrayal of his memory that will eventually destroy them both?

I (Jess) reviewed Letting Go at the end of October. If you want to see that review, you can click here. (But, ahem, spoiler alert: I loved it!)

Anyway. Jagger was an amazing love interest and character, and I heart him so hard. Let's go a little bit into why, yeah?

He's supportive...

"I'm scared."
"Why? If you're scared to lose me, you won't. I'll always be here for you." His voice was low, and the way it rumbled through his chest and against my cheek was something so familiar and so calming.

And understanding...

Jagger tightened his arms around me when he noticed the battle I was fighting. "You wouldn't be the only one trying to figure out how to go into this, Grey. I told you I'll be there for you, and I swear I will. Through every hard time, through every unsure moment, I'll be there...I just want you to be mine."

And then there are sweet moments like this...

Jagger pressed his mouth firmly to mine, cutting off my emotional rant, and I threw everything I had into that kiss. I needed him to know how much he meant to me, see it when he looked at me, and feel it in every kiss and touch we shared. I had spent so long blinding myself to him and keeping myself from feeling anything for anyone. After having this--having Jagger--I couldn't ever lose him or go back to who I had been.
When the kiss slowed, I pushed myself away from him to slide under the comforter. He watched every movement like he was afraid to miss any of it, and when I was settled into his bed, he got up and kissed my forehead before jogging down the stairs. The lights turned off and seconds later he was back and flipping off the lights in the loft. Pulling off his shirt, he let it fall to the floor before crawling back into the bed with me. With a murmured good night, he wrapped his arm around me again and pulled me close as we slowly drifted off to sleep.

And that's only the beginning when it comes to Jagger. He's also protective. And, AHH. So. Effing. Sweet. I barely skimmed the surface with this post. I honestly and truly recommend reading this book and getting the full effect of Jagger and all that he is. It's fantastic, I promise.
