Forever Kinda Love by Clara Stone

Life’s. Little. Surprises.

The last thing seven-year-old Carrigan "Ace" Casper foresaw was an eight-year-old Heath Lovelly walking into her life the day her mother died. From that moment on, Heath sticks by her side, slowly becoming her strength, her confidant, and her entire world. What she doesn’t know is, she's his saving grace, too.

Ten years later, Ace is handed another crippling challenge that threatens everything in her almost perfect life. Only, this time, she doesn't turn to Heath, hiding the truth instead. But Heath knows Ace too well and won't back down easily. He's ready to do whatever it takes and will stay by her side until she accepts that their love is the kinda love worth fighting for.

Will he be her forever triumph or her unexpected downfall?

Two lives.

One story.

And an unexpected journey to falling in love.

Review...

I have a soft spot for stories that feature best friends who grow into more. It's such a sweet premise and makes me feel so happy to watch their relationship grow and evolve. That said, these types of stories don't ALWAYS end up being something I love, because the characters fight it sometimes, thus putting them in situations that make me angry. Luckily, however, Forever Kinda Love is all the cute without much of the frustration, and I loved it.

Ace and Heath were characters I found easy to love. Ace was kind and tried so hard to be a good person and friend. She had issues with her dad that I cared about just as much as the romance between her and Heath. And then there's Heath. He had his own problems, which would have made me so much more upset if he weren't to be such a genuine person. His aim was to be good to Ace, and I had to respect that. His biggest fear was messing things up with her. Then he had his own family dilemmas, which added some good depth.

As a couple, Ace and Heath were freaking perfect. And cute. And sweet. And these two together made my heart feel all happy at their romance. They've been the best of friends since the day they met, and sticking around to see them take the plunge into something more was something I very much enjoyed. I was rooting for them the whole way through the story.

The plot and the writing were well done. I went through all the ups and downs with Ace and Heath, and FELT IT when certain...THINGS went down. As for the plot, I can't say I was entirely surprised by the end result of things, but I was definitely caught off guard by the course it all took to get there. There was more than just the friends to more, which was nice to keep my interest in the story. Especially when I got mad at Heath--because I did a time or two. Remember, I said he had his problems. They didn't make me hate him or anything, but they did make me a bit twitchy at some points.

Overall, I loved Forever Kinda Love. Ace and Heath were the sweetest couple, and I absolutely enjoyed watching their story unfold. And I can't wait for the next Lovelly book!

5 stars - A sweet and lovely tale of friends who grow to more!

**Character Interview**

Clara kindly let me borrow my boy Heath for a little chat. Here's how that went!

Hi, Heath! Welcome to Stuck in Books! So happy to have you here today, glad you could stop by.

*nods* Thank you for having me here.

Before we even get to actual questions and interviewing, we need to clarify one little thing, okay?

*Pauses* Okay...

WE ARE BEST FRIENDS.

*raises eyebrow*

We are.
We. Are…?

Now that we’ve agreed, can you describe yourself in five words or less, please?
Family, Loyal, Athletic, and Friendship

If you had to choose five words (or less) to describe Ace, what would they be?
Soulful, Strong, Family, and Beautiful

So, Heath. My lovely, lovely Heath. You’ve been friends with Ace for a long time. Do you have a favorite moment with her? One that sticks out in your mind? If so, what is it?
Yes. The moment that I can’t ever erase from my mind is when I first… *shakes head* get your head outta gutter! *chuckles*

So where was I? Right, the moment that stick forefront of my thoughts is the first time I saw her dance, like she was giving a tribute to something she absolutely loved.
Why? I don’t know. Maybe because it was a tragedy to watch a girl I had just met go through something so personal and felt like I knew exactly how she felt. Maybe that was the moment I knew she and I would be best friends for life. I’m not sure.

You and Ace go through quite an emotional journey throughout Forever Kinda Love. What is it like to look back on it all now?
You’re right, it was one hell of a journey. But really, if I had to go through that kind of emotional roller coaster all over again, I’d want Ace by my side.

How are things going with your dad? I remember that was a THING.
We’re working on it. I’m sure, we’ll find our way back…  Soon.

Okay, so let’s say I give you a pet tiger. You know, because we’re best friends and all. So I give you this tiger, and you need a name for the vicious guy. What would you name him and why?
Cuddles. Because obviously, pet tigers are just big old cats that like to cuddle ;)...

You’re stranded on an island and can only bring three things with you (THINGS, not PEOPLE. Unless you want to bring me, then I suppose we can bend the rules a bit. It’ll be a best friend clause). What three things would you have with you and why?
*winks* I guess I can tuck you inside my jacket and take you :).

In all seriousness… Lacrosse gear (unless I need to pick individual stuff… then Lacrosse Stick and ball), The Journey album, and this picture of Ace (if she doesn’t get quarantined with me that is…)

You love Ace. If you had to choose, what’s your favorite thing about her?
Easy. Her eyes.

There is no way I can end this interview without asking you about your brothers. How are they? And I would like specific details on Harry. I’m kind of a fan. Sort of. A little. (Okay, I totally heart him, but that’s not the point here.)
They’re good. Heath and Blake have their hands full with their little girl. Harry. Well, he’s been a bit off, like he’s happy or something. Kinda not his style.

Why should people read your and Ace’s story? (Other than the fact that I personally love it?)
Because, unlike most stories, ours is about friendship and how that’s the only thing that kept us from falling apart.

Out of my own curiosity, what would you rate this interview on a scale from 1 to 10 and why?
A 10 of course!

And I guess that’s it for this interview, sadly. Before I ACTUALLY say goodbye, is there anything random you’d like to say? And when I say random, I mean literally anything you want. The randomer the better.
How about those floods in Michigan?

Thank you so much for dropping by to chat with me, Heath! You’d better pop up again. We’re best friends. Best friends visit best friends. Like, all the time. It’s a rule. And important. So yeah. It’s necessary.
Thank you for having me on Stuck in Books, Jessica. It’s a pleasure meeting you. I hope I get invited back soon :).

  4. Glad to see you liked this book so much! When friends become lovers it's always an interesting switch, but funnily enough I haven't read too many books like this myself! I resolve to change that :D
