Harder (Caroline & West, #2) by Robin York ~ Tour Stop, Character Interview & Giveaway

Harder (Caroline & West, #2) by Robin York

In Robin York’s provocative new novel, two young ex-lovers find themselves together again in the shadow of tragedy—and an intense, undeniable attraction.

Caroline still dreams about West. His warm skin, his taut muscles, his hand sliding down her stomach. Then she wakes up and she’s back to reality: West is gone. And before he left, he broke her heart.

Then, out of the blue, West calls in crisis. A tragedy has hit his family—a family that’s already a fractured mess. Caroline knows what she has to do. Without discussion, without stopping to think, she’s on a plane, flying to his side to support him in any way he needs.

They’re together again, but things are totally different. West looks edgy, angry at the world. Caroline doesn’t fit in. She should be back in Iowa, finalizing her civil suit against the ex-boyfriend who posted their explicit pictures on a revenge porn website. But here she is. Deeply into West, wrapped up in him, in love with him. Still.

They fought the odds once. Losing each other was hard. But finding their way back to each other couldn’t be harder.

Character Interview...

(Can I just say this interview as so much fun! Warning: hehe's ahead)

Hey Caroline & West, thanks for agreeing to talk to me.

Caroline: Thank you for having us.

West: Yep.

So I talked to Caroline last time, and now you’re both here.  Very excite about that, but I might embarrass you a bit Caro.  Hope you don’t mind too much.

Caroline: Oh, I think I’m pretty well past embarrassment now. Being Iowa’s revenge porn poster girl means I’ve seen so many unflattering pictures of myself and answered so many way-too-personal questions, it’s getting so I’ll say anything to anybody!

West, the last time I talked to Caro, I asked her what she was thinking the first time she met you.  Want to know what she said?  I’ll tell you if you’ll answer the question about her!

West: It’s a deal.

She said, “I'm not sure I was capable of speech. I was too busy fainting.”

West (smiling): She did fall down at my feet pretty quick.

Caroline: I didn’t fall.

West: No, you collapsed.

Caroline: It was hot.

West: You’re from Iowa, though. You’re supposed to be used to the hot.

Caroline: Just answer the question, smart guy.

West: The only thing I can remember thinking is “Don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t do it. That girl is trouble.”

Caroline (smiling): But you did it anyway.

West: It’s kind of my fatal flaw around you.

Caroline: Aw. I love you too, baby.

I also asked her to describe you is 5 words.  Her answer?  Only if I get the same from you about her!

West: All right, I’m game.

She said, “Smart, tireless, curious, loyal, persistent.”

Caroline: I didn’t even call him an asshole?

West: That’s kind of a miracle.

Caroline: I know, right? But what are your words for me?

West: Brilliant, tireless, regal, ambitious, and . . . presidential.

Caroline: Those are good words.

West: You’re a good woman.

Oh and I learned that you’re an artist West! Any secrets you want to dish about Caro?

West: Her feet are always fucking freezing. I don’t know, is that a secret? She wasn’t kidding when she said she tells everybody everything. I’m not sure she’s got secrets anymore.

Caroline: I really don’t.

West: I could tell them about that time I caught you biting your toenails off with your teeth . . .

Caroline: That’s not true!

West (grinning): Who says it’s not? For all they know, it--

Caroline (covering West’s mouth with her hand): I have no secrets. Let’s move on to the next question.

She did tell me that she’s gonna be the president one day.  You have something about you we don’t learn in the book?

Caroline: It’s a long-term goal. For now, I’m working on graduating from college.

West: She’s working on graduating from college Phi Beta Kappa and winning all the awards at graduation.

Caroline: Well, a girl’s got to aim high.

So Caro, you were hoping you’d get to keep West – that was your one wish.  Are you still hoping or have things changed?

Caroline: Oh, I’ve got him now.

West: She’s stuck with me for the long haul.

Caroline (smiling): I’m good with that.

West seems different in this book.  What do you think is up, Caro?

Caroline: He’s not different, he’s West. He’s always West. I think if things look different, it’s because we see him for the first time back in Silt, and we start to understand what that part of his life was always like -- what we couldn’t see when he was in Iowa, but it was there. It was always there. And things had to get worse, as bad as they could be, before they were ever going to start getting better.

If you two could dress up as a famous couple for a costume party, who would you go as and why?

Caroline: The Obamas!

West: That’s not happening.

Caroline: It would be fun, though.

West: No.

Caroline: Please?

West: Jesus.

Caroline: Double please?

West: You’re asking me to agree to dress up as Barack Obama for a hypothetical costume party? Just to be clear.

Caroline: No, baby, I’m asking you to dress up as Michelle. I’m Barack.

West: And I’m out.

Anything else you two need to tell me or my followers?

Caroline: Yes. If they want to support the battle to end revenge porn, they should visit http://endrevengeporn.org to sign petitions and donate to the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, which does amazing work to help the targets of revenge porn and other online rights violations.

Thanks for chatting with me today.  I’m super excited to read this book.
