Torn (Connections, #2) by Kim Karr ~ Review

Source:  Received eBook from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Torn (Connections, #2) by Kim Karr

Rock star River Wilde brought Dahlia London back from the brink of hopelessness with his unwavering love and devotion. But their entangled history is about to test the strength of their relationship…

Dahlia was certain she had found true love and met her 'Once in a Lifetime’ when she reconnected with River. But Dahlia’s world comes crashing down when someone from her past resurfaces, and all of River’s carefully hidden secrets are exposed.

River wants to show Dahlia that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass—it’s about dancing in the rain. But how many times can one broken heart be mended?  Will River and Dahlia be able to stay together or will they be torn apart?

My Thoughts:

4 stars - Needed this one immediately after the first

First Impressions...

I really loved Connected, book one.   After the ending of that book, I was so glad I had Torn ready to go.

The Characters...

I just love River.  The way he feels about Dahlia is so incredible.  There's no doubt there.  The problems they have are about communication and not their feelings.  I loved that the love between them was always clear.  He did have more of a temper in this book than the last.  I think I can understand, though.  It was hard on him, watching that someone from Dahlia's past return.  My heart hurt for him.

I really love Dahlia too.  Books were I love both the MCs are usually the best ones.  Dahlia has been through some serious pain in her life.  Her parents death, the lose of Ben and the secrets and more lose in this book.  She deserves someone like River to cling to, to find comfort in.  They do that well, these two.  They support each other, comfort each other and boy can they pleasure each other.

The Story...

I felt like the writing improved in this one.  I struggled with that in Connected but I saw improvement here.  I felt it still dragged a bit in a few places, especially the end, but I really enjoyed it.  I love that these two enjoy each other a lot.  They are very physical all the time with touch and sex.  The reader is right there for it too.  Not just one or two times but lots of times.

Could I Put It Down...

Didn't want to.  Had to.  That didn't make me happy.  I read it over two evening.  I should have just read it through because I didn't sleep for thinking about it.

In The End...

If you have read Connected, then you definitely need this one.   If you haven't read either, then I suggest you have them both before you start.  People who enjoy New Adult, heavy on the sexy are the ones who will enjoy this series the most.

I also discovered an epilogue to Torn on the author's website.

It goes between Torn and Dazed.

About the author:

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

Connected was my debut novel and is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble , iTunes and Kobo.

Torn is the sequel to Connected and was just released on October 1st, 2013. It is available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and Kobo.

To see the remaining books in the series, check out my Goodreads page.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

  3. I really loved Torn. And I agree, the writing was really good in this one. I still need to read the epilogue! I read Dazed first, and felt like I'd missed something with River and Dahlia.
    Glad you enjoyed!

  4. Great Review Val! I love both Dahl and River too! The love they feel for each other is so passionate, and intense! I felt for River in this one too, and understood his jealousy and insecurity. I'm sad for their story to come to an end, but am hoping we'll still get a lot of them in the other character's stories.
