The Romeo Club
by Rebekah L Purdy
Release Date: 03/25/14

Source:  Received an eBook copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What happens when you agree to help your brother “de-nerdify” so he can catch the attention of the popular Chloe Anders, and to everyone's surprise, he actually lands her?

And what if his equally geeky friends come running with girl wish lists of their own, offering money for your services?

Well, if you’re sixteen-year-old, Delyla Denson, then you start The Romeo Club. A secret club where she’ll teach these guys how talk, act, and be cool around girls. It’s a win-win situation.

She’ll get enough money for the awesome prom dress she’s had her eye on, and the guys, well, they’ll get dates and maybe learn how to do something other than beat the next level on their video games.

There are only two problems with this plan. One, her quarterback/track star boyfriend is getting jealous of how much time she’s spending away from him and decides to try and figure out what’s going on. And two, Delyla is kind of falling for her brother’s BFF, Trey who she’s been hanging out with a lot more. And who thanks to her help, has caught the attention of the beautiful, perfect, and popular, Portia Rickard. With Portia and Trey heating up, Delyla realizes that maybe the person she’s meant to be with has been in front of her all this time.

But falling for Trey means she’ll have to take drastic measures including sabotage, with a capital S.

My Thoughts:

3 stars - Super Cute

First Impressions...

Such an adorable cover and the blurb was just too cute to pass up.  I was excited to read this one.

The Characters...

Deyla is hiding part of who she is to keep up the popular crowd.  She's a nerd at heart but suppresses it when she's around all her school friends.  At home, around her brother and his friends, she lets the nerd show.  She's trying to figure out who she is and what's important to her.  Growing up and learning what makes her happy.  I liked her.  Though I could have done without all the lying.  I do think I'm more tolerate of it since this is YA and a growing up kinda story.

I adore Trey.  He's so cute as Deyla starts to teach him how to talk to girls, how to fix his hair and how to hold a girls hand.  I will admit to thinking he was more like a middle schooler than a high schooler but I still loved him.  And her reaction to him as she figures out he's a guy besides being her friend was so cute.

The Story...

I found myself laughing out loud a lot with this one.  So many "could anything go more wrong" moments.  The neighbors dog, Jimbo, was hysterical too.  It felt like a sit-com.  Pretty predictable but oh so funny.

Could I Put It Down...

It's a quick read.  I read it straight through.

In The End...

This is a real YA book.  It's so much fun.  I do think it reads younger than it is but has some great lessons in it.  Anyone who enjoys the clean and funny side of YA romance will love it.

She admits to still having all the books she bought throughout her childhood and teen years, and she may or may not have an obsession with anything chocolate…
