Torn (Billionaire Bachelors Club, #2) by Monica Murphy ~ Review

Source:  Received eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Marina Knight came to this party for one thing only: to slap Gage Emerson in the face. Poised to snatch up her family’s real estate empire, the sexy tycoon is on the verge of making an enemy for life—even if he can make her melt with a single kiss …

When Gage discovers that the alluring woman before him is the key to his latest acquisition, claiming her as his suddenly doesn’t seem quite so cut-and-dried. To get what he wants, he must get to know the fierce woman willing to face him down—as she steadily steals his heart.

Gage’s persistence and intense passion war with Marina’s determination to protect her family. As they delve deeper into an affair they didn’t see coming, Marina’s torn: Will she lose her heart to Gage—or everything she holds dear?

My Thoughts:

3 stars - A quick read that brings the sexy

I totally loved Crave and was really excited to read Torn.  It was fun to see what was happening in Archer and Ivy's lives as well as explore the world of Gage Emerson.

As is my normal experience, the guy made the book for me.  I love the sexy Gage.  He's not looking for a relationship at all.  As a matter of fact, it would smart to avoid women completely with that million dollar bet hanging over his head.  But this is what I love about Gage.  He can't resist Marina.  He wants to explore that yummy chemistry between them.  And it's so yummy.

Loved reading from his POV.  Loved watching him resist his feelings and then to realize his feelings.  So male and so fun.

I had a harder time with Marina.  She was a major B to Gage.  She has her reasons but her feelings and body's reaction to him are the complete opposite.  I just didn't like her.  Well, I did like her when she was in Gage's arms.  That seemed to change her into this sex kitten that had Gage falling apart.  It was a strange combination that gave me pause.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and it read quickly.  Its sexy fast and these two are fun to watch as they try to resist each other or use each other for their own gain but really they are quickly falling in love with each other.   I definitely want to read book 3 and find out what's up with Matt and this bet.

I did struggle at one point, about half through, where I felt like I missed something.  There's a shift in the relationship and the motivations of both characters and I never felt like the shift was justified by their actions.  Honestly, I thought I had missed a couple chapters and went back checking.

Despite that unexplained shift, I liked this book.  It's fun and sexy.  If you love those quick reads that bring the sexy, pick this one up.

  2. I've felt torn over several things ranging from the superficial (which shoes or color of a blouse to get, etc.) to the serious (feeling torn regarding my ex). This sounds like a good read. Great giveaway here! ^_^
