Wild Child by M. Leighton ~ Review

Available October 22nd
Source:  received eBook in exchange of a fair and honest review

Jenna Theopolis has always known what she wanted. Getting out of her small hometown of Greenfield was number one on her list of priorities. Until she met Rusty Catron.
Rusty’s fun-loving personality was the perfect match for Jenna’s inner wild child. But what started off as a summer fling quickly turns into something more. At least it does for Jenna.

Rusty has lived with the ghost of his father’s abandonment since he was a child, but now he’s beginning to feel the crippling effects of his scars. He wants to trust in Jenna, but deep down he doesn’t believe someone so wild and free can ever be tamed.

But tragedy strikes, pushing Jenna out of Greenfield and leaving Rusty with a choice to make—face his inner demons or lose the love of his life. Forever.

 My Thoughts:

5 stars - Sexy with heart, this one packs an emotional story!

So I spent the first third of this book completely in need of my man and the last third with tears falling down my face.  This is a sexy book that packs a emotional story between the kisses.  I've read way too many sexy books lately that are only sexy and no story.  I'm even a little tired of the sexy, to tell the truth.  So when I started this one, I was nervous.  Not sure why I needed to be.  With M. Leighton writing it, there was sure to be more than kisses happening on these pages.  I completely loved Rusty and Jenna's story.

Rusty is such a great guy.  He's really a guy too.  The L word just doesn't come out of his mouth easily but he so loves Jenna.  Trying to protect his heart, he doesn't realize that his heart is already involved.  He's not going to be able to walk away and forget this good time.  But the pain that he faces, both mentally and physically, before he gets it, is tough to watch.  I wanted to slap him and hug him in equal measures.  Total guy.

Jenna is so happy for her besty who's getting married to the guy of her dreams.  She's not even jealous that Cami is getting everything she, herself, wants.  She just wants Rusty to figure things out.  She might could help him if her fears would step aside.  She loves the man and she wants him forever. Watching her go through some pretty intense pain was hard.  I could just see it through her eyes - the time slowing down and speeding up, the joy and misery at the same time - it's a vivid picture in my mind.  I ached for her.  Love it so much when a character makes me feel like they do.

This story just slips by.  I went from the sexy third to that crying third in nothing flat and was totally satisfied.  If you've read The Wild Ones, then you NEED this book ASAP.  If you haven't had the pleasure, then make sure and pick up The Wild Ones and get it read in time for this one to come out 10/22.  Love me some Trick! It's great adult romance.

About the author:

I was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it's there. I believe that I'm shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can't be sure because I haven't met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer's too hot, winter's too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all.
