The Look of Love by Bella Andre ~ Review & Giveaway

Source: purchased the audio book

Book Description:

Sometimes one look is all it takes

Chloe Peterson has vowed never to make the mistake of trusting a man again. Her reasons are as vivid as the bruises on her cheek. So when her car skids off a wet country road straight into a ditch, she's convinced the gorgeous guy who rescues her must be too good to be true.

As a successful international photographer, Chase Sullivan has his pick of beautiful women. He's satisfied with his life—until he finds Chloe and her totaled car on the side of the road in Napa Valley.

With every loving look—and every sinfully sweet caress—the attraction between them sizzles, and Chloe can't help but wonder if she's met the man who may be the exception to her rule….

My Thoughts:

3 stars - Seriously yummy steam in this vineyard!

I listened to this book, so let me start with the narrator.  Eva Kaminsky narratored this book as well as all of the Sullivan books.  She has a great reading voice and some clear distinctions between male and female but not necessarily between characters. I was okay with that since the majority of the book focused on just two characters.  I am glad that if I decide to listen to another book in this series that it will be the same narrator.  It frustrates me when they change it a lot as I get used to how characters sound.  I think that this narrator added to the experience without taking away from it.

For someone who reads mostly YA and NA, this book was a nice change.  It's clearly adult.  Both Chloe and Chase had complex pasts.  I won't give too much away about Chloe as she reveals that slowly in the book, but I will say that she is at a point in her life where she needs to make changes and figure out how to get what she wants out of life.  Chase, on the other hand, is perfectly happy with his life the way it is.  He has the playboy, never fall in love thing going.  As a photographer, he works around the beautiful people and he's had more than his share of flings with them.  He may not know it when the book starts, but he's ready for something more.

This book has that instat-love thing going.  Mostly, I was okay with it.  It did feel like the emotions of the circumstances played into this one.  I will admit to thinking about it at the end and realizing that the whole book took place over about a week.  That gave me pause.

The steam in this book is hot and heavy.  Very adult.  Perhaps a bit too much of it for me.  I know a lot of peeps love that part the most but not me.  I will say that I was so taken with Chase and his gentleman, honor driven ways with Chloe that I was totally falling for him and I mean quickly.  Guess I had that instat-love thing going too.

I do love both of these characters and the whole Sullivan family.  So much beauty in one place!  This is a steamy, sexy adult read.  If that's your thing, then give this one a look.
