Cover Reveal ~ Release by M. R. Merrick PLUS Comment Giveaway

Available December 10, 2012

After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems.

Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father.  Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates.

Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made - especially regarding Rayna.
One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past - sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.

So if you follow my blog, you know I love this series. Check out my reviews for the first two books here.

I love these covers.  So far, the covers have always appealed to me differently after I read the book than before.  I love that in a cover.  They should mean something to the story.  So I want to know what you think of these covers.

What you think of the cover for RELEASE?

What you think of them as a set?

What you think of covers that actually connect to the book?

As a reward for commenting, I'm gonna enter you in a giveaway for an eBook of either Exiled or Shift.  Comments and spreading the word are the only entries.  See the rafflecopter below.

  7. I think the covers do connect them as a series. But the letters are different on each book, kinda makes me think they are about the difference in each book. If that makes sense!

  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    I LOVE THE COVER!!!
I'm still reading the first book but so far, the fire, I get!!!
And yes, actually. I ALWAYS write on my book reviews whether my 2 weaknesses were represented on the book I'm reading/reviewing and one of them is that the book cover actually resembles if only a bit of the whole story plot...

Ah!!! I'm so freaking excited for this!!!!
    Yey for MRMerrick!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. These covers are art that would draw me in and have me picking the book up to read the back cover. I like the color scheme on Release and the mystery of the dilapidated gate, lightning, and swirling vortex.

As a set, I like how they start off fairly simple, brooding (but not dark) in color and progressively become more ominous (tho I do wonder why #3 doesn't have fire).

I enjoy cover art that I can refer to as I read the story, turning back to it to study and look for hints of where the tale is going.

    1. Release actually does have fire - it's just controlled in the torches. I'm thinking that may be a hint to how the elements go in this one. :)

  20. I really like the cover, I just love that purple lightning in the background, the whole thing looks kind of magical :)
As a set - they kind of go, I think the cover for release looks a bit more magical than the other two. the other two are linked by the fact that they both have fire in them, maybe the cover for release should have had the same fire too to tie the three together.

    1. There is fire on the Release cover. It's controlled fire in the torches. Thinking that's a hint. :)

  29. I like the cover to release. The colors are dark and eye-catching. I love the tornado, and the castle front. I think I like the Release cover the best. I think Shift and Release look good together, but I don't really care for Exciled, maybe it's because of the lack of Tornado, blue coloring, and castle element.

  33. Like you I adore Matt's books and these covers. :)

They make for a great visual story all lined up like that. I loved Exiled's cover before I read the book, but it took on a new meaning once I had finished it, which turned it from being just a gorgeous cover to one that ties in beautifully with the book.
