Q. How has your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently?

Did I really read as a teen?  Not like I do now.  I read the stuff I was forced to read, well kinda.  Honestly, I was a math and science girl in High School.  Makes sense that I'm a math teacher.  I read more with my kids when they were young then I ever did in High School.  So where did the reading passion come from?  It has to do with being a teacher.  I picked up the books my students were reading to strike up conversations with them.  Then Twilight came along and I had to read it.  It was pretty much all over after that.  Once I had discovered the YA reading world, there was no going back.  I don't really venture into the adult fiction world too much.  Why should I, when there are so many fabulous YA books I haven't read yet?

What about you?  What's changed with your reading habits?  Leave me a comment/link.

Have a good weekend.

  1. I didn't read much as a teen either. If only schools would update their reading lists.

  2. Looks like a lot of us were late bookworm bloomers :) I definitely count myself in that group. If I'd known all I was missing back then... Well, anyway, I just wanted to hop by and say hey! Your blog looks great, and I have no idea what that Titanium button's for, but I've seen it on other blogs and it always makes me stop. The girl's eyes are so entrancing lol.

  4. I love the fact that so many of us adults read YA - it really goes to show that books are for everyone and that sometimes genres don't make sense :-)

  5. I loved math in high school and almost decided to to be a math teacher, but this summer I realized how much more I like books and reading, so now I'm going to study english education. I couldn't imagine not reading!! Great answer :)

  6. It's hard to move away from YA these days, but I try because deep down in my overachieving heart, I want to be Master of All Book Genres. All of them! Delusions of grandeur are common for me... :-)

  13. I've loved reading since 7th grade! granted, i'm only a sophomore, but still. I like the fact that my friends all joke about my reading habits. All I ever get for presents are B&N giftcards (: which isn't an overall bad thing!

  14. Maths and science were my subjects too! But so was English and Lit. Ok I'm Asian, so it comes with the territory. I used to spend lunchtimes in the library reading YA. Valerie, I don't think you'll be venturing into the adult territory any time soon if you're waiting for the good YA to dry up. It's only getting better i think!

  19. I'm the same. Twilight got me reading the way I do now. It's funny because English was actually my favorite subject. But I liked the writing aspect, not the reading. Now I don't write anything and read anything I can get my hands on! lol

Thanks for stopping by my friday memes as well!

  22. I don't know what really got me into YA books, besides the fact that the initial few I picked up were shorter than adult books and I was pressed for time. That and I read The Hunger Games and I was intrigued by YA, I don't know!

Have a great week and sorry it took me a few days to get over here. Thanks for stopping by Book Brats!
